It all starts here! In order to do the best job for your clients and put as much long-term care business on the books you have to first make sure you have a qualified applicant! No more trying to find your carrier's underwriting guide, or working out of an outdated one! By using My LTC Underwriter™ you can decrease your decline ratio. If you are in a competitive situation you can also see how other carriers would rate your client. There are six sections in My LTC Underwriter™ to help you.

If you are new to underwriting long-term care insurance we recommend you spend some time in Underwriting 101 to familiarize yourself with the basics of long-term care underwriting. Even if you have been writing long-term care for some time, it may not be a bad idea to review this section- you might learn something new to help you!

This section educates you on the diseases or conditions your prospect has. Using this wizard, you can be prepared to ask your clients educated questions and have the information that the carriers' underwriters are most likely to ask you. Having these answers ahead of time will save you time since you won't have to go back to your clients and ask more questions!

This section allows you to select as few as one or as many as all of the carriers listed. You then select the disease or condition your client has. Each carrier's rate class will be displayed for you. You will also see uninsurable medications, height & weight charts, underwriting guidelines, carrier's underwriting hotline information, and links to each carrier's PDF underwriting guide.

Select the medication that your client is taking in the drop down list below, The medication search engine results will show you the carriers that would decline your client if they are taking that medication. The search engine lists the conditions for which the medication is being taken.

Many times your clients or prospects tell you about a disease or condition they have that you are unfamiliar with. Our search engine will provide you with a "laymens" definition of it. This will give you additional information so that you can ask more educated questions during the pre-underwriting process.

We have included additional resources to help you with your long-term care underwriting. There is a medical dictionary of terms and acronyms as well as information about prescription medications.

Providing complete information on the application is, without a doubt, the most important thing that you can do to facilitate a quick (and hopefully favorable) decision from the underwriter. Use this PDF form to ask Who, What, Where, When, and Why.

Use this PDF file to get key questions to ask for the most common conditions and diseases. If this form does not have the condition or disease you are looking for, simply click on Ask the Right Questions above and search there.
